|Rome International Literature Festival|
Rome International Literature Festival, a great international literary event now in its tenth edition, starts May 19 in the usual place of the Basilica of Maxentius, Roman Forum.
This year until June 23, in ten evening appointments, 19 Italian and foreign authors of the most interesting of the world scene, we do listen to the thoughts and words that the subject History / History evokes in them.
The writers, in the traditional manner, read new texts in their native language, exploring the connections between literature and history, relations between literal truth and historical truth.
On stage, two authors are compared for each night, a / in Italian / ae a / a stranger / a. The pairings, unlike previous editions, are designed and will be motivated and Italians to introduce strangers, in some cases assisted by actors and actresses of film and theater scene, Italian or not, who read excerpts from works already published in Italy.
The readings are accompanied by live music performances by famous musicians.
Like last year, the evening of June 16 finalists will be guests of the five authors of the Strega Prize in 2011.
The milestone of ten years of the Festival is also an opportunity to recall its history and its success: a turnout of more than 300,000 spectators, the participation of 183 writers and poets, 88 actors and 123 musicians and bands.
To celebrate this anniversary, back in Literature several important foreign writers such as Don De Lillo and Antonio Skármeta, and Italians, as Gianrico Carofiglio, Giancarlo De Cataldo, Carlo Lucarelli, Margaret Mazzantini and Sandro Veronesi.
Another return is the art: each event will host the images of the works of an Italian artist, freely associated with the atmospheres of the authors of the texts the protagonists of the evening.
Are planned two special events: the evening of June 9 pays homage to the Russian culture - the 2011 has been declared the Year of Russian culture in Italy and Italian culture in Russia - with the presence of the Russian writer jew, but a U.S. citizen, Gary Shteyngart and Pavel Sanaev.
The final evening of 23 June instead makes homage to Elsa Morante, who with his work best represents the theme of the relationship between history and literature. To read his text two great actors: Laura Morante, Carlo Cecchi, accompanied by music by Nicola Piovani.
Like every year at the House of Literature, the day before the appointments to the Basilica of Maxentius, there are press conferences open to the public with the writers, actors and musicians, actors of the Festival.

The evenings begin at 21, the box office opens at 19, the gates open at 20.30
Admission is free, with free access to availability, only if equipped with a free ticket to be collected at the box office in Via dei Fori Imperiali. At the entrance you can only pick up the ticket on the same evening. For people with disabilities are guaranteed access to facilities and restricted area.
