The Battle of Legnano, made in a short time in 1849 by the young Verdi to a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, is a work in which the classic triangle of the passionate melodrama weaves the historical events that saw the towns of northern Italy, united in the Lombard League in the fight against Frederick Barbarossa.
