Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, British art in over seven decades (from 1945 to 2004), the spirit of a city on display at the Cloister of Bramante in Rome, curated by Elena Crippa, Curator of Modern and Contemporary British Art, Tate . Thanks to an extraordinary loan from Tate, along with Bacon and Freud, Michael Andrews, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff and Paula Rego, artists who marked an era, inspired generations, used painting to tell the story of life. Over 45 works reveal, in a direct and shocking way, the human condition made of fragility, energy, opposites, excesses, evasions, truth, no filter, in a historical moment, ours, so rich in filters. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Tate, London.
